Pigtails!

Kensley finally has just enough hair to play with and try some new hairstyles.  We've done some experimenting recently and she's sported a little ponytail on top of her head (similar to pebbles) and pigtails!  She actually doesn't seem to mind me messing with her hair as long as she has something in her hands to keep her occupied.

We finally got around to scanning in pictures from our ultrasound with baby girl #2.  It only took us 4 weeks, but better late than never!  Here are a few pictures of our sweet, little girl.

Chicago Trip...

This past weekend, we took a quick trip up to Chicago to visit one of my good friends from college and meet her little boy.  We had a great time catching up, playing with the babies and relaxing together.  Kensley did remarkably well on the 3 hour trip up and back.  She is really getting into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse now so she really enjoyed watching episodes on her portable DVD player.

Kens loved baby Bryce and quickly became obsessed with him.  She kept walking into his room or would stand outside pointing while he was taking naps.  She would bring him toys and lay them around him while he played on his playmat.  But most of all she LOVED getting to hold him and his cousin, Hayley.  We're hoping that her enthusiasm and infatuation continues well into June and even after she learns baby sister is here to stay.

I hate that this picture is blurry as it's so sweet of the both of them.  Worth including though as you can just sense the excitement she is feeling.

She is going to be one good big sister!  Poor Hayley was not enjoying the experience.

Every time we took the babies off of her lap she signed "more".  She did not want it to end!

 Kensley was on the go all weekend and didn't slow down until we got her in the car to head home.  She played hard, ran all around their condo and was the source of entertainment much of the time.  Between her 20 minute nap on the drive up Saturday and a later bedtime that evening, it's no wonder she crashed two minutes into our trip home on Sunday.

Our funny Valentine...

This year we celebrated Valentine's Day with our funny, little Valentine.  After a busy weekend and a long work day, we spent the evening together playing and enjoying a delicious meal of Qdoba.  We don't tend to make a big deal of Valentine's Day, so in keeping with tradition presents were kept to a minimum.  Daddy brought home three pink roses, one for each of his girls, and we got Kensley 2 balloons ("boons" as she says) and a princess headband.  She is obsessed with her balloons and carries them throughout the house...best $2 we've ever spent!

Last week, we tried our first official craft project and Kensley made valentines for some special people in her life (Daddy, Nana and Papa and Grammy and Grampy).  She seemed to enjoy coloring and putting stickers all over the valentines.

15 month stats...

We went to the doctor today for Kensley's 15 month well check visit.  The visit went just as expected and involved several meltdowns.  I think the worst part for Kensley was getting examined by the doctor, getting weighed/measured and the fear of me putting her down.  She did get three shots and after a quick cry, recovered surprisingly well.  The doctor said she looked great and is developing right on schedule.  She is apparently getting her molars now which was kind of a surprise as we haven't really noticed different behavior or sleeping habits. 

Here are Kensley's 15 month stats:

Weight: 22 lbs 12 oz (48th %ile)

Height: 30 in (34th %ile)

Head: 18 in (44th %ile)

Random updates...

We started this week out by being confined to our house for several days due an ice storm.  Fortunately I was able to work from home a couple days so I didn't have to venture out in it.  As cabin fever set in, we were thankful to finally get out of the house by Thursday.  We are definitely ready for spring, or at least warmer weather.

Last week, Kensley got to meet her Great-Grandpa Kane (Jeremy's maternal grandfather), aka Bampi.  Bampi flew in from Philadelphia for the week and apparently brought the Northeast winter weather with him!  Despite the snow and ice, we were able to visit with him several times while he was here.  Kensley is Bampi's 11th great-grandchild and Baby Girl Roberts will be number 12!

On Friday, Kensley and I were able to meet our friends, Esther and Ellie, at the Children's Museum for a playdate.  I'm not sure who was more exhausted by the end...the pregnant mommies or the girls!  We are so thankful for our membership there because it allows us to not feel guilty for only spending a few hours there at a time.  I'm not sure I would survive more than a few hours of chasing a toddler around.  Here are the few pictures I took from our playdate (we were too busy chasing the girls).

On Saturday, Jeremy and I got to have a date afternoon/night out.  Nana and Papa came down to hang out with Kensley so we took the opportunity to go to a movie, shopping and dinner.  Kensley seemed to have a great time with her grandparents and I'm not even sure she noticed we were gone.  This is what we came home to...

Before Christmas we went to the Children's museum with our friends Erin and Nolan.  I think I was asking her where the rest of the eggs were.

15 months old...

Kensley Elise is officially 15 months old today.  This little girl is constantly on the move and into everything.  In the past few weeks, we've really noticed that she seems to have unlimited energy.  She is running everywhere and rarely sits still.  We're hoping Spring comes soon as we need to get this little girl outside to run off some energy!

Kensley is starting to enter into the mimicking stage as she attempts to repeat sounds, our motions and occasionally things we say.  It's cute, but makes us even more aware of how impressionable her little mind is.  For a while now, we've been spelling certain things that tend to arise a response from Kensley (bath, snack, banana, etc.).  Kensley understands so much and she seems to catch onto something new everyday.

Kensley does pretty well playing independently as long as she knows we're close and not doing anything too exciting without her.  As soon as we enter the kitchen or head upstairs, she'll quickly follow to make sure she doesn't miss out on the action.  She still loves her blankets, stuffed animals and baby dolls.  She loves to have as much as possible piled onto her lap or in her arms.

Kensley still enjoys music and will often stop what she's doing and dance when she hears a familiar tune.  She loves to watch Sesame Street videos on You Tube and will sign "more" over and over again until we can take no more of big bird and elmo.  Between You Tube and Skype (with Nana and Papa and Cousin Elli), Kensley has a minor obsession with the computer. 

Kensley still experiences stranger anxiety and continues to have a tough time in her class at church.  She moved into the 1's class shortly after Thanksgiving and it's taken some time for her to get used to it.  We've yet to make it through a full service at church without getting paged.  This past Sunday she almost made it the whole time in class and we consider it a small victory (only 5 minutes from the end of the service).  She always cries during the hand off from daddy to the worker, but they were able to calm her down this time.  They always tell us she loves snack and bible story time and is always very interested.  Apparently last week, she didn't want to leave the table and eventually melted down when she realized all the other kids had left her to play...hence us getting paged.  We continue to take her to class as we know she will eventually love it.

Despite the stranger anxiety, Kensley does surprisingly well in large groups of people.  As long as we are there or at least someone familiar, she is completely comfortable and in the center of the action.  She doesn't shy away from attention and is definitely in the stage where she repeats an action over and over again if it elicits a response.

Kensley is such a happy little girl the vast majority of the time.  She loves to laugh and be chased and is still such a daddy's girl.  She tends to save her whining for mommy and daddy as we always hear how great she is for the grandparents.  It's probably better that way, as we don't fall for the fake cries, sour faces or whining.

This little girl has such a fun personality and such a sweet heart.  We are so blessed to be her parents and are so thankful for our little girl.
