8 weeks old...

Well this past week has certainly been an eventful week for us. We've been enjoying the week together as a family as Jeremy has been off work since Christmas Eve and will go back after New Year's. Kensley celebrated her first Christmas, got lots of presents, visited with both of her grandparents, met Auntie Dawn (my college roommate), and went to her first car show.

Kensley is continuing to grow and amaze us daily. She is smiling lots now and starting to "talk" to us and her toys. She continues to enjoy her baths and is still sleeping pretty well at nights. She seems to be getting into a routine of some sort. She tends to be in bed asleep by 9:00 p.m. most evenings (after fighting sleep for a while). Daddy still has the magic touch and puts her to bed each night. Kens has also been napping well and usually sleeps 2 - 3 hours at least each afternoon.

Here are a few pictures from the past week. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures at Christmas (except for the one below), so I will post more later once I get them from my parents.

7 weeks old and Merry Christmas!

Another week has flown by and Kensley is 7 weeks old today! She's such a joy and gets more fun each day. She is smiling often now and gets excited when you talk to her...kicking her feet, smiling and opening her mouth like she's trying to talk. She's still fighting going to sleep at night, but is still sleeping great...often only getting up for one feeding around 4 or 5. Kensley's now been sleeping on her side and seems to prefer that to her back.

We are getting excited about celebrating our first Christmas with Kensley. We know that she won't remember this Christmas, but we're excited to make memories that we can one day share with her. We have so much to be thankful for this year and can't imagine our lives without Kensley. Here are a few pictures from the past week.

Sunday we took Kens to church for the first time. She did really well...almost made it through the whole service. Here she is in her Christmas dress.

Posing with mommy after church.

Snuggling with daddy before bed. Jeremy has the magic touch and is able to get her calmed down and to sleep most nights.

Attempting to talk to me.

Today we went to visit daddy at work and to have lunch with him. Kens also got to meet lots of daddy's co-workers.

Merry Christmas!

6 weeks old!!!

Well once again we are celebrating another week of Kensley's life. We can't believe how fast these past 6 weeks have gone! I don't know why, but I feel like 6 weeks is such a milestone. Maybe because everyone said that the first 6 weeks are the hardest or maybe because of the 6 week postpartum visit. Well whatever the reason...we're celebrating 6 weeks with our little girl!

Kensley has been doing great! We've been learning so much about her and are starting to feel like we're getting into a rhythm. Kens is a great sleeper and has been sleeping an average of 6 - 7 hours straight at night in between feedings. She rang in her 6 week birthday last night by sleeping over 8 hours straight! I couldn't believe it! We've found that her fussy time tends to be in the evening between dinner and bedtime. And despite being a great sleeper, she is already fighting going to sleep. Kens is still a great eater...I'm sure you'll be able to tell that by the pictures below. She's still got those cute chubby cheeks! Here are a few pictures of the past week!

Happy girl! Kensley's best smiles are usually first thing in the morning when she wakes up. I caught this one last week!

Such a cute little baby!

Take a guess what she is doing in this picture. She's started making funny facial expressions and grunting now. It's so funny as it seems she wants to let us know that she needs a diaper change.

Last Thursday, Kensley met her new friend Ellie Schwander. Kensley and Ellie are exactly 1 month and 2 days a part.

This is such a funny picture. It looks like Kens is trying to figure out why Ellie is crying.

Last Friday, we went to a Christmas program at our church. It was Kensley's first visit to church and she did a great job...she slept through the entire program.

Kensley and mommy after the program.

Kensley is pretty particular about how she is held. She's quick to let you know if she doesn't like a position. Here Jeremy was trying to get her to sleep. She was sitting on his left arm and he held the pacifier in her mouth with his right arm. She actually fell asleep in this position.

5 weeks old and visitors!

Kensley is officially 5 weeks old! As I keep saying, she is changing everyday and learning new things. She celebrated her 5 week birthday with her new friend Kennedy. My good friend, Courtney, and her daughter came down from Ann Arbor this week to spend a few days with me and Kensley. Kennedy is 6 months old and she is at such a fun age. It's so crazy to think that it won't be long before Kensley is that old! Before we know it, the girls will be running around together getting into all sorts of trouble!

This past Monday we had Kensley's 1 month doctor's appointment. We've known this since she was born...but we definitely have a big girl on our hands! She was 10 pounds 14 ounces (84 percentile) and 22 1/4 inches (81 percentile). She has grown two inches already since she was born! The doctor said that she looks great and is doing well.

Kennedy and Kensley (future TU roommates???)

Kennedy loves babies and got really excited looking at and talking to Kensley.

Such a big girl!

Kensley's Newborn Pictures

Kensley's newborn pictures where taken on Friday, November 13. She wasn't quite a week and a half old yet. Here are a few of our favorite pictures along with a link to the slide show of them. It's amazing to see how much she has already grown and changed. She isn't looking as much like a newborn anymore!

Happy 1 Month Birthday, Kens!

Kensley is 1 month old today! I can't believe how fast this past month has flown by. I feel like Kensley is growing and changing everyday. We go to the doctor for her 1 month appointment on Monday and we are excited to see how big she is. Here are some pics from this past week (including Thanksgiving at the Brauchler's) and also her 1 month pics that I took today!

3 weeks old...

Kensley is 3 weeks old today! It's amazing how much she's changed over the past three weeks. She's much more alert during the day, is getting really good with her head control, focusing more on objects, responding to our voices, etc. She's been doing really well at nights and tends to go 4 - 5 hours in between feedings, which means we're usually only up 2 - 3 times a night! Kensley also loves to be held! Here are a few pictures of week 3.

Just hanging out in her boppy pillow...

Sleeping like her daddy with her arms above her head...

She discovered the mirror above her on the swing and was staring at herself for quite a while.

Sitting up like a big girl.

Smiling in her sleep.

Sleeping on mommy.

Zonked out before her diaper change.

Making a funny face while she sleeps.

Kensley is getting excited for her first Thanksgiving. She can't wait to see her family and snuggle with them all. Happy Thanksgiving!
