First Official Haircut!

Today Kensley got her first official haircut (other than the trims we've done at home)!  We've been talking about it for a while, but really didn't get serious until lately.  Kensley has started to look pretty shaggy so we made a quick decision and went this afternoon.  She did so good despite being a little apprehensive about the whole thing.  We had talked about it earlier in the day to start building the excitement.  When I went in to get her up from her nap she said "I wanna get haircut". 

So off we went to Cookie Cutters.  That place has to be a gold mine.  I think we were in there a total of 12 minutes...most of the time spent carting us in and out (Aves' carseat, diaper bag, purse, camera, corralling Kensley, jackets off and on, etc.).  But Kens had a good time, she sat in a little pink car and "drove" most of the time.  She got a balloon, watched Baby Einsteins on her own TV and got to go down the giant slide that sits in the waiting area.  On yeah and she got a haircut!  I'd say it was a success.

It honestly isn't that different.  Just cleaned up a little and about 1.5 - 2 inches off in the back to try to even out the layers a little.  If you don't see Kens often, then you might not even notice it's different.  We think she looks cute and oh so grown up.

3-0

Last Friday, I turned the dreaded 3 - 0.  I honestly had little time to think about the upcoming birthday (or more so dread it) with the crazy summer we've had.  It wasn't as painful as I anticipated, but I am definitely feeling older.  Or maybe that's the exhaustion from moving, working and getting up in the middle of the night with sweet Aves.

We had a nice weekend celebrating.  Jeremy surprised me with a nice, quiet night out for the two of us.  Grammy and Grampy watched the girls, while we did some shopping and had dinner at the Melting Pot.  Saturday my family came down to celebrate with me.  My sister actually surprised me and made the trip over with the kids.  So I got to spend my birthday weekend with my 4 favorite kiddos.  Saturday was a busy day...trip to Monkey Joes, out to lunch, playtime, naps, dinner...crazy!  More so the fact with 4 little ones, 22 months and under there was never a dull moment.

Getting Settled...

We are slowly getting all settled into our new house.  Most importantly...we now have internet!  Yay, now I need to download our pics and catch up on the blog.  I promise we will soon post pictures of the new house.  I just hate taking them now with blank walls and random stuff still sitting all over the place.

The past few weeks have been pretty crazy for us, between getting all moved and unpacked, me going back to work, battling sickness (yes, all of us had it), celebrating birthdays, working on projects around the house, having visitors, still not sleeping through the night (ugh!), etc.

More posts and pictures coming, but for the time being a few of our sweet girls.

Avery: 3 Months Old

Sweet, little Avery Leigh is 3 months old (plus a few days due to the delay in posting).  She is such a sweet, happy girl and gives us tons of smiles and coos daily.  Grammy Roberts even got her to laugh for the first time...fortunately we were all there to hear it. 

Aves has had a big month as she is now sleeping in her crib in her own room!  Her first night in her crib was September 1st.  She seems to be enjoying it; unfortunately it hasn't really lead to longer sleep times for her.  We are currently in sleep training mode as Mama goes back to work next week...hoping to wean Avery of her middle of the night feeding soon. She is still going to bed by 7 or 7:30 and usually starts fussing/moving around between 2 - 3 am.  We've been going in to put her paci back in her mouth (we are looking forward to the time when she can do this herself!) to get her to go back to sleep.  We usually have to do this once or twice a night and then I feed her anytime between 4-5 am.  She then typically wakes up for the day 3 - 3.5 hours later and eats again.  And yes, we realize we are fortunate for her to sleep a 7 - 8 hour stretch each night already.  We're just hoping to increase that long stretch!

Avery is showing more and more interest in her sister as she lights up when she hears her voice and gets kisses and hugs from her.  It's sweet to watch the interaction between these two already.  Before long they'll be playing together (and probably fighting as well).

Size wise, Avery is pretty much the same.  Still wearing 3 month and 0-3 month clothes and size 1 diapers.  We've made good use of big sister's old clothes here lately as the temperatures have dropped and we've had to dress a little warmer than usual.

Our photo shoot this month was a little rough and didn't last long.  Aves wasn't a fan of sitting in her chair...once she got to the floor, she kicked like crazy.

 Avery Leigh, happy 3 month birthday!  Mommy is really going to miss you next week (well the 3 days I work and will be away from you that is).

Kensley: 22 Months Old...

Kensley Elise is 22 months old!  She continues to talk up a storm and is mostly using full sentences now.  It's so fun as we are able to carrying on conversations with her.

The biggest thing for Kensley this month (with the exception of moving into a new house) is that she started "school".  Kensley is going to a program called God's Kids at our church every Tuesday from 9 am - 2 pm.  There are 8 kids in her class, including herself.  We think she is really going to enjoy the social interaction with all her new little friends.  Her first day went great...minimal fussing at drop off and only teared up during rest time as she was unsure of the cot situation.  We were glad that her first day went so well; however I was a little sad that she went in so easily!  Our little girl is growing up too fast!

 Kens is doing great at our new house.  Whenever we drive into our neighborhood Kensley says, "I see my new house".  It's so cute.  She has adjusted well to her new bedroom and is sleeping great for naps and bedtime.  Once we get her new room painted and all put together, we'll post some pictures.

Kensley seems to be enjoying her roll as big sister.  She likes to talk to Avery and "read" books to her.  The other day I caught her trying to pick Avery up out of her bouncy seat.  Fortunately Avery is too heavy for her to pick up, but she did move her to the side...glad I caught her when I did.  We still see some signs of jealousy when Kensley wants our undivided attention.  She'll tell us (our her grandparents) to put Avery down because she wants to play.  Sometimes when I talk to Avery, Kens will say "No, mama, no" and move her hand back and forth...signaling to quit talking to Avery.

 

Our little Munchkin is growing up way too fast!  We love you sweet, Kensley Elise!

Quick Update...

We are no longer homeless!  We moved into our new house this past Tuesday, August 30th and we are loving it already!  The house is mostly unpacked and we're working on getting all settled.  We are thrilled to finally have all of our stuff in one place. 

We are so thankful to Nana and Papa for opening up their house to us for several months this summer.  It was so nice to have a place to stay, unpack and also have some extra help with the girls.  We had a fun summer with them and I know the girls are really going to miss them.

Well our blog posts over the next few weeks might be a little sporadic/behind.  Unfortunately our internet isn't going to be set up for a few weeks as they are really backed up.  So...we'll do our best to post when we have time to borrow a connection!
