Kensley: 3 years old

Kensley Elise is 3 years old!

As my mom said, "3 seems SO old"...and I have to agree.  She is definitely becoming her own little person.  She remembers and understands so much and can piece so many things together that I would have never imagined.

Kensley is funny, creative, silly, sensitive, caring and at times pretty shy.  She loves spending time and playing with her friends.  She is loving going to "school" and seems to really look forward to it.  She still loves to watch some of her favorite shows in Disney Jr. (Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Mickey, Doc McStuffins and Little Einsteins).  She LOVES playing on the ipad and it's amazing how well she knows her way around that thing!  Kens loves to dance and is really enjoying her dance class (more on that later).  She loves to do puzzles, play hide and seek and loves to be tickled and chased.

Kens is developing quite the imagination.  She often plays with imaginary friends (the Little Einsteins...from the Disney Jr. show).  She also loves to play mommy to her babies...feeding them, putting them to bed, etc.  She comes up with lots of ideas and loves to share them, often saying "Hey...I have an idea.  Let's...."

For the most part, she is so sweet to Avery. She loves to play with her and is constantly asking her to dance with her, play with the dollhouse, etc. She also likes to tell her what to do and likes for Avery to be her "patient" when playing doctor. Fights tend to pop up quickly over toys, snacks, who is sitting in who's chair, etc. She still calls Avery "sweetheart" and "honey" often and is quick to give her hugs and kisses.

Kensley is still in her picky eating stage and some days I feel as though she's barely eaten anything.  A few of her favorite foods are: Kraft Macaroni & Cheese (forget about it if it's homemade), Raspberries, Bread (of any kind), Yogurt, Cheeseburgers and Blueberry Waffles.  She also has a huge sweet tooth and it always requesting a "treat".

We head to the doctor next week for Kensley's 3 year well check, so official stats then.  Size wise though, Kensley seems to have hit a growth spurt this fall.  She seems taller as her pants and shirts are getting shorter on her.  She is wearing mostly size 3T clothes and pj's, but we've been buying size 4T for later in the season.  She wears size 8 and 9 shoes.  Kensley typically goes to bed around 8 pm and gets up around 7 or 7:30ish.  She is going through a night waking stage and typically wakes up 2 times a night and comes into our room needing something (covered up, a tissue, water, etc.).  We're hoping this is only temporary!  Kens still takes an afternoon nap for about and hour and a half and about a month ago we finally got rid of the pull-ups during nap.  So now she sleeps like "a big girl" for naps!  She is still in diapers (size 4) overnight.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Kensley Elise!  We love you!
