Madelyn: 8 Months Old...

Maddycakes is 8 months old! 

Maddy no longer has any interest in sitting still.  She is on the go!  She is crawling everywhere!  She constantly goes after her big sisters' toys, blankets, sippy cups and food.  She tries to dive out of our arms or off of our laps if there is something she wants.  She can also go from crawling (or on her tummy) to sitting up.  We often come in her room after naps or in the morning and she is sitting up in her crib waiting for us.

 

We have made great strides with solids this past month.  Yay!  Maddy still prefers to feed herself, but she has been consistently eating baby yogurt, applesauce and some baby foods from a spoon.  She LOVES the baby crunches (I call them baby Cheetos because that's what they look and smell like) and also likes to feed herself bread, bananas and chew on apple slices.  She is enjoying puffs more these days as she's starting to master the "pincher grasp".  Maddy is still nursing 4 - 5 times a day and is starting to drink water out of a sippy cup.

Maddy is still a mama's girl, but she has been starting to show preferences to her daddy.  It's so cute to watch her when he walks in the door from work.  She usually goes crazy flapping her arms, smiling and making noises until he comes to see her.

Some of her favorite things are playing peek-a-boo, chase (when one of us holds her and runs while being chased by the other person), being tickled, standing up, her blanket (and thumb!) and swinging.

  Unfortunately, we made yet another sick visit to the doctor last week for Maddy.  As we suspected, her ear infection came back in her right ear with fluid in her left ear.  The doctor prescribed a new antibiotic and she seems to be much better now (and sleeping much better!).

Maddy's sleep patterns are starting to be more consistent.  For the most part she is sleeping through the night (when she's not sick), going down around 6:30 or 7 pm and waking around 5 or 6ish to eat and usually goes back down until 7 or 8 am.  She is taking two naps a day, her first in the morning about 2 hours after she wakes up and then she goes down in the afternoon around 1:30 when her sister's nap/rest.

Not napping, but she laid her head down while playing...think she was telling me she was ready for bed!

Maddy continues to be the happiest little baby.  She is constantly smiling and giggling.  She continues to love her sisters and is always interested in what they are doing.  She has started to "talk" to us and does the same throaty cough that her sisters both did.  She tends to do this when she talks to us or wants our attention.
