Dear Kensley: 5 years old...

Dear Kensley,

It just doesn't seem possible that you are 5 years old!  You are growing up so quickly and it's hard to believe in less than a year, you will be in Kindergarten!

You are quite the social butterfly these days.  You LOVE to play with your friends and are constantly asking to do so.  You still act a little shy/quiet around adults (school, church, etc.), but you thrive in situations with your friends...MOPS, school, playdates, etc.

You and Avery still play pretty well together, but most days you are more interested in doing things by yourself at home...drawing/coloring, playing on the leap pad, etc.  You still have quite the imagination and constantly come up with games you can play.

Some of your favorite things these days are anything Frozen (specifically Elsa), drawing and crafts, playing with your friends, doing puzzles, watching movies or TV.  You love to dance, sing, do gymnastics (still working hard on perfecting your cartwheel) and swim.  You aren't afraid of much and are usually up to try just about anything.

Your favorite foods consist of anything sweet (cupcakes, ice cream, cookies, etc), Fried Rice, Mac and Cheese, Raspberries, Cheeseburgers and buttered pasta.  You are becoming a better eater and most days will try or eat whatever we put on your plate.

You are anxious to grow up...always asking when you get to go to Kindergarten, ride the bus or how long until you are a certain age...6, 16, etc.  You love to "learn" and are constantly trying to perfect your letters an drawings.  You have such a good memory and never seem to miss much.  You have such a sweet and tender heart.  You love to cuddle and it doesn't take much to get your feelings hurt.

We had your well check appointment today and the doctor said you look great!  You got three shots (your boosters for Kindergarten).  You were so brave and tried so hard not to cry, but I think it hurt more than you expected.  After a few tears (and a toy from the doctor), you perked right up.

Your stats at 5 years old:
Weight: 37.5 pounds (34%)
Height: 42 inches (40%)

We can't believe our "first baby" (as you always remind us) is already 5 years old.  We love you so much, Kensley Elise!
