Christmas {2014}...

It's hard to believe that the Christmas season is already over.  I'm hoping as we move out of December we are moving further away from sicknesses.  Our Christmas plans were changed up this year (last minute) as sickness continued to plague our family.  Grammy was diagnosed with the flu several days before Christmas Eve so we had to postpone our Christmas with the Roberts until the following weekend. 

So Christmas Eve, Nana and Papa came down to spend the day with us since we ended up being home.  Unfortunately, Kensley woke up with a fever and sore throat so we made a last minute trip to the doctor that morning.  She was diagnosed with strep so we spent the day relaxing, eating and trying to get healthy.  We ended up skipping the Christmas Eve service since we wouldn't be able to go as a family.

 Christmas morning we spent as a family in our house.  The girls had a great time opening presents and playing with their new toys.  Again we spent the majority of the day relaxing and taking naps.  Since Kensley had been on antibiotics for over 24 hours and was no longer contagious, we headed up to Nana and Papa's house after naps.  We were able to celebrate Christmas with the Zurchers and Lindvalls that evening.

As we've been doing in the past with my side (Brauchler) of the family, the adults exchange and open gifts when the kids are sleeping.  It is much less crazy and give us a chance to take our time.  So we had part 1 of the Brauchler Christmas on Christmas night.  The next morning the kids all opened their presents and then spent the day playing.  Unfortunately on Friday morning, Maddy woke up not feeling well.  She wouldn't eat and was crying nonstop.  So we called our pediatrician and they called her in an antibiotic to treat strep (they told us when we were in for Kens that there is a good chance siblings catch it so they don't need to see them to prescribe antibiotics).  We did our best to keep Maddy away from the other kiddos (specifically Emery) and fortunately she seems to be on the mend.

The rest of the weekend we spent swimming in the hot tub, tractor rides outside, went to see the Walkway of Lights, went out to pizza and then to Nana and Papa's church on Sunday.

Driving around (slowly) to see the lights...she was thrilled to be out of her carseat to see.

On Sunday evening, we were able to celebrate Christmas with Grammy, Grampy and Aunt Kym.  The girls got some great gifts and clothes.  The most exciting present was a family vacation (for everyone) to Disney next summer!  The girls are excited, but really don't understand the magnitude of the trip...the Frozen balloons and dolls seemed more exciting at the time.  I'm sure as we get closer, they will get more excited..."next summer" seems too far away to them right now (and me too!).

We had a great Christmas!  Thanks to our families for great food, hospitality and spoiling our family!  We have one more Christmas celebration with Grandma and Grandpa Brauchler to come!
